Thing #17
I listened to a podcast by an elememtary school librarian Jo Nase on "How to host a Book Tasting". The goal of this exercise was to help the studens choose "good fit books" in a fun environment. She explained how she had the room decorated and set the tables up like they were in a restaurtant. She different coloured tablecloths for different genres and had the books sitting on the middle of the table on a silver platter. She also had tea lights and flowers on the table. The students were able to sample the books for a few minutes and then for the older students she had a menu for them to answer a few questions about the books and for the younger students they could mark a happy face or sad face as to how they rated the book. It sounded like a fun idea to get children to venture out of their comfort zone and try some different books.

That sounds like a really neat programming idea!
